so glad it’s Friday again! have been telling myself to tahan till friday… coz i feel so tired…. teaching is physically exhausting! mentally too :psycho1 there is juz so much to do… for example, marking, scolding, remedial, CCA, lesson planning… the list juz goes on and on… if you thnk that teaching is juz English, Maths, Science.. you r wrong… there are other “extra” stuff that takes up curriculum time… like filing, Philisophy for Child (P4C) = talk-cock-must-conduct-cum-waste-time-lesson. on top of that, since my sch is very onz bt NE, we MUST allocate 1 period to play silly game.
well… i thnk by now… i am proud to say that i am super good at giving detailed and systematic instructions… haha… something complicated, such as the games instruction, i cld explain it only ONCE and they cld understand it ! :grin1 nah… my class isn’t a super smart class… in fact, they are very mixed ability… BUT i am glad to see the faster pp helping the slower pps… no discrimination at all…. i tell you… the feeling is good….some children in class are like mini teachers… they cld juz repeat the instructions for me. when i don’t feel like telling… for example “Miss Goh say hand in tml… don’t ask already” i take that as they are being attentive…
teaching also helps me to become optimistic…. though some children are really cannot make it… i still choose to believe that they are smart and juz need guidance… maybe tt’s y i am always so tired and bz…
the boys in my class can be quite naughty.. the type tt runs round the class.. come to the front and play with the visualiser… it gets on my nerves… but they are willing to listen…. i deliberately give them responsibilities… for instance, ” i give you an important job to count the worksheets… how can you disappoint me… i trusted you so much” i tell you… it works… :beam1 besides this, i also juz started on a “learning contract” with 2 boys who have never passed English since P1… after they signed the contract, there is an improvement in their behaviour in class :wink1 maybe their behaviour wont sustain for long but i can’t help it but to feel a little bit accomplished…hehe
last week, i had lesson obs by my P and VP. i told the class to change into their proper uniform during recess and line up 5mins before the bell rings… they did it! still nvm… as i went up to class for some last minute check, i saw the 3 naughtiest boys in class sweeping the floor for me! they even cleaned the tables for the P’s and VP’s use and helped to arrange the tables neatly… i was very touched… :smile1 though these children are not so smart and very playful, they are willing to learn and help…
as for now… i feel like i have planted 40 seeds and the seeds had yet to germinate… i need to give them more water, warmth and air..
last but not least… i came up with a quote… hope it makes sense “every minute is a challenge…but everyday is fulfilling…” to me, tt’s what teaching is all about! :beam1
My sister is coming back on this coming sunday!
